As some of you know, I write the “Quincey Morris Supernatural Investigations” novels for Solaris. The first book, Black Magic Woman, was published last January. The new one, Evil Ways, will be out at the end of this month, although Amazon is selling it already. My publisher has arranged to have a lengthy excerpt from Evil Ways posted at the Fantasy Bookspot site, which can be found here: http://www.bookspotcentral.com/2008/12/evil-ways-justin-gustainis-excerpt/
In Evil Ways, occult investigator Quincey Morris and his partner, "white" witch Libby Chastain, find themselves drawn into the same horrific case, but from different directions. Morris is recruited by the FBI to investigate a series of ritualistic child murders; Chastain barely escapes an attempt on her life by assassins using magical weapons. These two threads eventually intertwine, leading Quincey and Libby to a conspiracy so vast and so diabolical as to defy imagination -- and sanity.
Ultimately, the forces of Light (Quincey, Libby, and allies) and Darkness (crazed zillionaire Walter Grobius, his hired wizard, Pardee, and allies) do bloody battle on Walpurgis Night, with the future of humanity hanging in the balance.
